Character Network is named after the networks of texture, shape, and motion nodes which configure a virtual character in 3D development environments. Our team is a network which emerges as a differentr character as different people become more or less active in the network. Participants in the network are:

Chirs Chafe
Composer Prof. Chris Chafe is the Director of CCRMA, the Stanford Center for Computer Research in Music and Accoustics.

Christine Liu
Christine has been involved in graphics design and computer graphics for three years. She has worked closely with Greg Niemeyer for the past year on Organum as concept artist, texturer, lighter, and storyboard artist. She is currently visualizing the Stanford Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics with Prof. Chris Chafe, improvising the look and feel of a planned remodeling by analyzing architectural designs and massaging them into appealing visions. Education: 2002 - UC Berkeley - Art Practice (BFA)

Sergei Gepshtein
Scientist Dr. Sergei Gepshtein is a postdoctoral researcher in Psychophysics.

Greg Niemeyer
New Media Artist Greg Niemeyer joined the UC Berkeley Art Practice and Film Studies Faculty in the Fall of 2001. On a Space Odyssey, Niemeyer is interested in the processes which transform data into bodies. He sees such processes as rituals, be they presented as classic miracles or as quotidian electronic transactions. Education: Stanford MFA 1997

Dan Perkel
Programmer and Information Architect Dan Perkel is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Information Management Systems at UC Berkeley. He does not like Octopus.

Ryan Shaw
Programmer Ryan Shaw is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Information Management Systems at UC Berkeley. He likes Octopus, apparently.

Anne Walsh
Video Artist. Prof. Anne Walsh joined the UC Berkeley Art Practice Faculty in Fall of 2002. Anne Walsh solo practice is primarily in video installation. An upcoming screening at Berkeley’s Pacific Film Archive will show a brief retrospective of her projects, which deal primarily with language and communication style. She is also an editor of X-Tra, the art and culture journal published in Los Angeles.

Lorenzo Wang
CG Artist Mr. Lorenzo Wang has been freelancing computer graphics and design for three years, and holds a strong interest in the mechanics of game design and how interactivity will play the future. He has most recently worked with Greg Niemeyer on Organum as character artist and animator, and at ESC Entertainment as an assistant technical director for the upcoming Matrix: Revolutions movie. He hopes to bring his experience crafting game worlds to the development of educational tools that involve, not impose. Education: 2002 - UC Berkeley - Cognitive Science with minor in
