Game Studies: Steps 04 and or 05: Game History (Games your parents parents parents played!) and/or Game Speculation (Games your kids will teach you, and win!)

  1. Decide whether you will combine assignments 4 and 5, or do one or the other...
  2. Using the HTML editor, write a speculative essay about what games your kids will teach you to play in the future and/or a historical essay about a game from the past. What skills will/did these games require? How will/did these games relate to reality? How will/did they make older/newer games look? What will be/was new about them, and will/did you/(your parents parents parents?) like them?
  3. If possible, illustrate some of the aspects of your future and/or past games with images.
  4. Your post should be at least 1000 words long ((# of words of 05) + (# of words of 04) = 1000).
  5. Save your assignment as an html page with the following name: futurepast.html. Be sure to file any patentable ideas.
  6. Using Fetch or AbsoluteFTP, post your futurepast.html file into your folder on our art server as instructed in class.
  7. TEST your site to make sure it loads properly.
  8. Review other people's sites by typing http://art.berkeley.edu/fs181/NN, while NN are numbers 01 to 21.
  9. Link your futurepast site to two other student's sites which are related to your vision of future games/your historical account of a past game. Post early so everyone can do this!
